YTMND

YTMND, if you haven’t come across it, is a site that allows users to create content that consists of a picture with a sound. Combinations of animated gifs, music, and clever choices of the two can create really funny pieces to behold. In it’s more recent history, it also has hosted flash videos, and more modern content as well as the classic type. If you’ve never taken in the excellence that is YTMND (which by the way, stands for “You’re the man now dog”), let me link you to some:

You’re the man now dog - the original.

Picard - one of the first YTMND users to get some attention.

Gman (from the Half-life series) is having a wonderful time. This one got me introduced to YTMND.

There is an infinite myriad of things to behold, from Gman to gnomes to Sean Connery, and anything and everything inbetween and beyond. YTMND is a unique internet phenomena that has spawned it’s very own memes (meme is slang for internet phenomena).

Down to business.

According to YTMND.com, the site is closing down as of 4/1/08.

I’m fairly certain that we can rest safely, knowing that it is only an April Fool’s joke. The page states that the site opened April 1, 2004, when the typical header of the site says “Since 2001″. Not to mention the fact that it’s April Fool’s day now, the day of it’s “closing”.

However, this does make one wonder: what if it did shut down? Enjoy YTMND while it is here, because you may wake up on 4/1/09 and it could be gone.
