Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1

Internet Explorer 8 Beta seems to have been released. It’s supposed to be for web developers, etc., so that they can make sure their code works well before it is mass-installed on their largest userbase. However, this also gives everyone else a ticket to check out the new version.

Among the new features, Microsoft has decided to split the browser into multiple processes, allowing for an interesting sort of crash-prevention:

As well, a new feature called “WebSlices” has been implemented, allowing you to mark special chunks of websites for viewing in their own little window for various information, such as weather, seen below:

A page containing lots of information on the new browser can be found here, and you can download it there as well, but I’ve also provided more direct links for you below.

You can pick up the versions for various operating systems on Microsoft’s site, but here are the links for the two more commonly desired versions:

IE8 Beta 1 for Windows XP

IE8 Beta 1 for Windows Vista and Server ‘08

If you need another version (such as 64-bit), just head over to microsoft.com and pick it up.
